in-depth, loving critique to help you make your story the best it can be
does this sound familiar?
You’re seeing indie authors with hundreds of avid fans and thinking I want that too.
You’re afraid that your characters don’t jump off the page like you want them to.
You’ve tried to edit your story before, but you worry that you’re too close to it to really see any flaws.
You’ve had alpha readers and beta readers, but their feedback just wasn’t good enough—or worse, they didn’t understand your story.
You have nightmares about plot holes.
You’re scared that your story drags in the middle.
You’re stuck with a story that doesn’t totally match your vision yet.
I can help you erase those fears and publish a book that readers will devour again and again.
Too often, I see writers settle for a few beta readers and call it a day. Here’s the problem with that: Beta readers are more like a test audience.
They lack the expertise that you really need to take a manuscript from three stars to five.
Beta readers can tell you that a character’s arc was disappointing. That’s important feedback, but what if you thought it was really pulling on heartstrings? And even if you agree with that feedback, if they didn’t tell you why it was disappointing, you won’t know how.
Professional editors don’t just tell you what’s not working and leave you to figure it out on your own.
They tell you why and give you steps to take to fix it. Getting really specific with feedback not only solves the problem at hand, but builds up the rest of the story. A stronger character arc leads to a better connection between your reader and your character. It might even impact your whole story’s theme!
I’ve worked with authors who’ve gone through the heartache of publishing something that they later decided needed to be rewritten, edited professionally, and re-released.
This hurts their wallet, their first impressions, and their drive to keep writing at all—to name just a few things. You can spare yourself all of that pain by taking the right steps at the right time. And one of those steps is developmental editing.
I know you want to better yourself as a writer. It’s why you’re here.
And if you’re here, it’s because you have a manuscript that you love to pieces…but you recognize it needs polishing up before you can share it with confidence and pride.
I’d love nothing more than to help you do that.
Instead of lackluster advice or critiquing so harsh that you can’t make yourself read it, I’ll give you supportive and loving feedback. No more dreading your DMs, comments, or emails; my guidance is full of emojis, fun notes, and—above all—encouragement.
That manuscript you love? I want to help you make it the best it can be! You bring the passion, I’ll bring the knowhow, and we’ll work together to make your story the five-star novel of your dreams.
You don’t want to throw your money at someone who is too busy to give your story the time and attention it deserves.
I know that the pages you hand over to me hold your heart. It’s why my inbox is always open. It’s why I’m careful with the words I use in my critiques. It’s why I have clients come to me over and over again.
I treat your manuscript with all of the love I can give—and as a girl who grew up at the library and read way past my bedtime, that’s a lot of love. I’m crazy about all of the worlds I’ve visited, the friends I’ve made, and the lives I’ve lived between the covers of a book.
You don’t have to use your imagination to know that I can take you from
Seeing other authors with hundreds of avid fans ➡️ Having fangirls of your own
Afraid that your characters don’t feel realistic ➡️ Getting DMs about how your character made someone feel seen for the first time
Nightmares about plot holes ➡️ Dreams of sequels
you want readers to love your book as much as you do.
let’s make sure that happens.

why do they keep coming back?

testimonials
this is good for you if
You’ve written more than one draft (or a super freaking clean first draft)
You’re ready to pursue publishing
You’re willing and able to commit to the revision process
You want to build a lasting connection with an editor
You don’t have the time or knowledge for self-editing
You’re willing to communicate and able to respectfully disagree
You have a clear goal in mind and you’re determined to reach it
this won’t be a good
fit for you if
You’ll find the revision process too overwhelming
You aren’t willing to see this through to the end
Your first response to criticism is getting defensive or rude
Your second response to criticism is throwing it out entirely
You’d rather try to make up for experience with stubbornness and months of frustrating research and rewriting

💖 FAQ 💖
What genres do you have experience editing?
Most of my clients write fantasy books, but I’ve edited everything from middle-grade novels to new-adult thrillers and paranormal romances! I’m especially on the lookout for monster romances right now! 😂
How long have you been editing?
I’ve been editing professionally for six years now. (I can’t believe it’s been that long!)
What are your editing strengths?
My attention to detail!
My enthusiasm. I’m your biggest fan!
My relationship with my clients. What is your turnaround time?
It depends on the length of the manuscript and how much work needs done. I can edit an 80,000 word novel in about four weeks.
What if I need a job done quickly?
Depending on the timeframe you want, how busy my calendar is, and the length of your manuscript, there will be a rush fee (+25% of the overall cost.)
Do you accept first drafts?
Nope. I don’t accept first drafts for any of my editing services.
Here’s why: Editing isn’t the final step of publishing, but it’s a big step, and I can almost guarantee that your manuscript needs more TLC before it’s ready for that step.
I don’t want to waste my time and your money suggesting changes on scenes that you might cut later, and I want to make sure you won’t be adding in big chunks of text that would need to be edited later.
Come back to me when you’re done with your second draft, at the very least.Do you offer sample edits?
Absolutely! In fact, I require them if we haven’t worked together before. Please send me the scene that you’ve found the most challenging and I’ll edit it for you for free.
What software do you use for editing?
Google Docs! It makes it really easy for both of us!
Is there a minimum word count?
Nope! I love short stories!
Is there a maximum word count?
Also no! Keep in mind that a long manuscript (more than 100,000 words) might take longer than my usual four-week turnaround time.
Are there any late fees?
If you’re a little late in sending me a manuscript, that’s okay. If I take a little longer to finish editing than I thought I would, I’ll let you know ahead of the projected deadline. All I ask is that there’s clear communication by both of us.
There are late fees on invoices. How do you accept payments?
I use Square to accept payments. I send you an invoice and it’s easy peasy!
Do you offer any pricing deals?
Returning clients get a 5% discount!
And my newsletter and social media will sometimes have promo offers! What if I’m not a returning client?
My prices are fair and attainable for almost anyone, so I don’t offer deals too often--but keep an eye on my Instagram Stories and newsletter, where I offer promos now and then. I also offer custom payment plans!Do you offer any payment plans?
If you need to set up payments differently than what I’ve laid out here, let me know! I offer absolutely custom payment plans.
I don’t want your book to go without editing because of money. Can I book multiple kinds of editing at once?
No.
Here’s why: My developmental editing is the “big picture” editing. If there’s a character whose arc needs changed, there can be big sections of your book that get rewritten. If you need to add more details to your worldbuilding, you’re going to be writing new words all over the place.
During developmental editing, not only does your total word count change, but there can be big changes to your book. If I were to fix the typos in your manuscript at the same time (or right after) I suggest edits, what would happen to the things you change during those big edits?
I would miss words, or I would edit things that you immediately cut.
If you want to work with me for both kinds of editing, you can let me know during the application process. We can discuss a timeline for when you might be ready for the second part of the editing process (the line + copy editing!) and I’ll jot that down in my calendar.
